That’s how they created their own, characteristic style. The band was noticed by Steven Spielberg who invited the musicians to play at Survivors Reunion celebration for the survivors from the Oskar Schindler’s list. The band collaborated with Peter Gabriel. Their third album “The Sounds of the Vanishing World” received a prestigious prize Preis der Deutsche Schalplattenkritik (German Record Critics’ Award), in 2000. The band’s output includes an album recorded with a Polish famous singer, Edyta Geppert, and a musical project with Sinfonica Baltica orchestra.. One of KROKE’s compositions was included in the soundtrack to David’s Lynch’s film “Inland Empire”.

„Nathan the Wise”
D, ”Nathan der Weise”, 123 min, 1922, dir. Manfred Noa
Based on drama by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing from 1779, it’s a story about ascending beyond one’s own weakness and obstinacy, about noticing humanity in the enemy’s face, about seeking union in spite of the conflict. Produced with a flourish, it shows magnificent acting, precision in stage design and costumes making. The plot is set in Jerusalem and tells a story of Jews, Muslims and Christians, hostile to one another, but tied with mutual heritage. It’s a story of Nathan the merchant, the king Saladyn and a young templar. The film was thought to be lost. In 1996 the only black and white copy was found in film archives in Moscow. It underwent restoration and its original colours were regained. Thanks to that process the film is now perceived as a masterpiece of German silent cinema.
MICROEXPRESSIONS
MICROEXPRESSIONS
A Project led by a songwriter and producer – Michał Stambulski, from 2009. Its style is based on fringe pop, it takes inspiration from the electric combination of indie rock, synth pop, noise pop, post rock and even r’n’b and mainstream pop. The sound is characterized by constant change of dynamics, changes between excitement, melancholy, synthesized refrains and psychedelic solos. Multi-layered arrangements, expressive performances and, maybe first of all, sophisticated melodies have become the distinctive features of the band.
Formed by:
Michał Stambulski – vocal, guitars, electronics
Marcin Sipiora (BWSounds) – electronics
